Interactivity API + WP AJAX
State lives in a store, not in the section.
The data-wp-* attributes in this markup are processed on the server, so the first paint already shows one panel. No script in this section.
The gln/lab store is a Site Snippets JS module that imports @wordpress/interactivity. A PHP snippet provides the same isActive getter on the server.
This button calls a nonce-checked admin-ajax.php handler from a PHP snippet and writes the answer into context.
